Antonina "Toni" M. (Bozzuto) Truax

Antonina M. “Toni” Truax, 88, of Elkhart, died on Friday, October 7th, 2016 at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.

Toni was born in Elkhart on December 15, 1927 in Elkhart to the late Domenico and Mary (Checchio) Bozzuto.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Truax; two sisters, Lucille Bozzuto, who died as an infant and Mary Haney; one brother, Michael Bozzuto and one niece, Karen Haney.

Surviving Toni are her two sons, Michael (Kathy McGrath) Truax of Bristol and Stephen (Emily Dent) Truax of Aliquippa, PA and two brothers, Joseph (Kathy) Bozzuto of Vandalia, MI and August “Gus” Bozzuto of Elkhart.  Also surviving are three nieces and two nephews.

Toni was self-employed as a beautician for twelve years and also worked at Durakool for fourteen years.  She retired in 1992.  She was also a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church where she was active with Harvest House and the funeral luncheon committee.  She was a graduate of Elkhart High School as well as the Elkhart Beauty College.

Visitation for Toni will be held on Wednesday, October 12th from 4 until 7 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.  The Rev. Matthew Coonan will officiate and burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
