Christine Walker Obituary

Christine “Jackson” Walker, 72, answered her call going from labor to reward on February 21, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was born on January 6, 1946 in Brighton, TN to the late Louise and Alonzo Jackson, Sr.

Christine professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Mount Tipton C.M.E. Church in Brighton Tennessee.  She attended Sadler Grade School, and Frazier and George R. Ellis High School in Munford, TN where she played on the basketball team. She met the love of her life, Charles Melvin Walker, Jr., and they were married on January 23, 1963.  To this union three children were born.  Christine and Charles moved to Elkhart, Indiana in 1964.    Upon moving to Elkhart, Christine completed her education at Elkhart High School.

Christine loved God, her family, and her church so she united with the St. James A.M.E. Church and was a member until her passing.  As a member, she enjoyed singing in the choir, serving as a member of the Steward board and the Missionary Society.   As a missionary, she also participated in many community ministries such as Suzanne's Kitchen where she assisted in serving lunches to the homeless, and she made many contributions to Healthy Families, an affiliate of C.A.P.S. in Elkhart.  She would often make donations of household and food items, as well as other necessities, to assist young mothers with babies and young children.

She worked as a supervisor at the Alumax Building Products in Bristol, Indiana from 1967- 1994.
