My mother was one of the older generation of Berns Twins (Rell Berns Yohnka of Rell and Christine) and my sisters and I grew up in awe of Diane and Dawn. They were bright and beautiful. Though I spent very little time with Diane, we shared an afternoon at Dawn's bedside, years ago now, that I will long remember. Her children and grandchildren have my sympathy for such loss but I'm picturing two sets of Berns Twins playfully pretending to be the other one when attendance is taken in Heaven!

My thoughts and prayers are with Diane's family for their loss. Diane was one of the most compassionate, positive, thoughtful, and professional nurses I had the pleasure to work with. I know she will be missed by many, especially with Mothers Day near. Rest In Peace, Diane...a new adventure begins for you.

p.s. Loved the video...it was beautiful.

I remember Diane well as she was a regular at the Cheery Corner Gift Shop at EGH. Diane was a friend to all and her kind heart was apparent in her mannerisms and speech. It had been a while since I saw her, but she is unforgettable. I will miss her kindness and friendship.

Diane was one of my favorite "gramma kid" walkers in our "Stride Srength & Stretch class at the "y" for many years! She always brought her positive attitude and ready smile to class and her loving outreach to all that crossed her path was felt by our entire class! Her health challenge with fungal meningitis turned out to be the fight for her life and it was difficult to see her strength and stamina diminished, but the twinkle in her eye remained! We are all better people for knowing Diane in sickness and health...she will be missed and remembered with our hearts and spirits as she is now free to enjoy her heavenly journey🙏🏼

Diane was one of the nicest, compassionate people I have ever had the opportunity of knowing and working with. She always had a smile and words of encouragement. She was a true servant of God. I am honored to have known her. She will truly be missed by many.

Diane and my mother shared living for a time at Eastlake. They became good friends despite the gap in their ages. Mother found her one of the people with whom she could discuss world topics. Diane continued their correspondence when mother moved to Greenleaf. Our prayers and sympathy to her family.

Anne and Michele- I was crushed to learn of your mom's passing. So many great memories of her! She never had an unkind word to say. I had heard about her meningitis illness and I follow the trial of the man responsible for the tainted meds and so many deaths. Such a heartbreak and I'm sure that is an understatement. I wish I could be there for her service. My thoughts, prayers, and sincerest sympathy are w/you and your families. How blessed you both are to have had her for a mom. How bittersweet this Mother's Day will be for you. Many thanks and praise to God for her life.
