Gabe R Bowers

November 23, 2000 ~ September 28, 2017 (age 16) 16 Years Old

Gabe R. “Gabriel” Bowers, 16, of Bristol, died on Thursday, September 28 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Middlebury earlier that day.

Gabe was born on November 23, 2000 in Elkhart to Raymond and Krista (Mahaffa) Bowers.

He is survived by his parents, brother, Ashton Bowers and a sister, Bridgette Bowers; grandparents; Richard Bowers Jr., Jim and (Chelle) Mahaffa, Deborah (William) Douglas, Jim Carlson; great grandmother, Lena Robbins.  Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends.  Gabe is also survived by his furry, four legged friends, Bacchus, Zeke, Marshall and Chance.

Gabe was preceded in death by a grandmother, Kathleen Carlson, great grandparents, Edward and Delores Mahaffa and great grandfather, Charles Robbins.

A junior at Northridge High School, Gabe also worked at the Dairy Queen in Middlebury and just recently began employment at Middlebury Produce.  He was a hard worker and did everything “like a boss”.  He had an infectious sense of humor and he adored being with his friends.  In his limited spare time, he enjoyed gaming and was an avid Notre Dame fan.

Visitation for Gabe will be on Monday, October 2 from 4 to 8 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Riverview General Baptist Church.  The Rev. Rick Pirtle will officiate and burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bristol.  To honor Gabe, the family requests that guests dress casual or wear something purple as this was Gabe’s favorite color.

Memorial contributions in memory of Gabe may be made to the education fund for Ashton and Bridgette, in care of Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.
