Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret Belford

July 25, 1916 ~ September 24, 2016 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Margaret Belford, 100, was quietly and peacefully called home September 24, 2016 surrounded by her family that she loved so deeply.

Margaret Quintina was born July 25, 1916 in Ontario, Canada to Lucy (Cerutti) and Peter Galinet.  She is survived by her only son, Larry (Pat) Yeater; her granddaughters, Stormi McDonald, Stacey Dale, and Brandy (Christian) Rowe; along with 8 great grandchildren that she prayed for daily.  She is preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Yeater and Ken Belford as well as her sister Nina Theresa and her brothers, Peter Costanso “Pete/Stosh”, David Peter “Pee Wee” and John Anthony “Johnnie/Tony”.

In keeping with her strong Italian heritage, Margaret lived her life with three basic principles: Eat, Pray, Love.  Eat: One of her greatest joys in this world was food, either making it or serving it.  She received the most joy from baking cookies, cooking a meal for family, and being a waitress so many years at the Fisherman’s Wharf in Edwardsburg, where if you were a regular, she might have surprised you on more than one occasion with a plate of her homemade cookies to enjoy on the ride home.  Pray:  Margaret’s religion was prayer.  She said her secret to her long life was simple: “I pray every day”.  Whether you knew her or simply passed by her sitting on the front porch, one thing is for certain, she said a prayer for you.  If you are reading this now, she is undoubtedly praying for you right now.  Love: She always said “I never knew a stranger, and if I did, it wasn’t for long”.  To know Margaret was to love her, and to her, LOVE WAS EVERYTHING! “It always protects, always trusts, always preserves.  Love never fails” Corinthians 13:7-8.  Our family couldn’t have loved her more, so we ask you to support us today by doing the following:  Love yourself, your family, and your neighbor without fail, pray for everyone you meet, and finally gather your family, give thanks and share a meal.  “Mangia!”: Now Eat!

Visitation will be held Wednesday Sept. 28th from 12-1:00 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  Services to be held immediately following led by Rev. Ted Stanley of Trinity Lutheran Church and School.  Burial will be in Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret asked that memorial contributions be made to “The Parish Nurse Ministry” at Trinity Lutheran Church 30888 C.R. 6 Elkhart, IN 46514.
