Marie V. Lese, 91, of Elkhart, died on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart.
Marie was born on May 15, 1925 in Cleveland, OH to the late Joseph D. and Angela (Fiorelli) Iuliano, Sr. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Joseph D. Iuliano Jr. and Ronald A. Iuliano.
As Marie Iuliano, she married William “John” Secor, Jr. on April 10, 1944 in Elkhart. They later divorced and then she married Sisto C. Lese on September 2, 1948 in Elkhart. He died November 7, 1965. Surviving are two daughters: Sandra J. (Duane) Clark of Elkhart, D’Andre C. (Don) Biller of Elkhart; three sons: Thomas E. (Patricia) Secor of Elkhart, Michael A. (Judy) Lese of Elkhart and Mark V. (Jana) Lese of Fort Wayne: nine grandchildren; Jeffery Secor, Dawn Cook, Katherine Lucas, Kristine Wingard, Joseph Lese, Angela Lese, Ian Lese, Gabriella Christian, Francesca Christian; four step grandchildren: Lindsay Stewart, Zachery Biller, Tyler Biller, Allicia Burleson; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Demske of DeMotte, IN, Gloria Chernay of Ashburn, VA and a brother, James Iuliano of Manorville, NY.
Marie moved to Elkhart from Cleveland in 1941and graduated from Jimtown High School in 1943. She then began her career at Smoler’s before taking a position at Drakes, where she worked for 10 years. She then worked at Holiday Inn for 5 ½ years as a clerk before retiring from Adams-Remco in 1988 after 5 ½ of employment in the office.
Marie was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Italian American Relief Association (I.A.R.A.) and also the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary (F.O.P.).
Visitation for Marie will be on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home where the Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 17th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Van Kempen of St. Mary’s of the Annunciation in Bristol officiating. Burial will take place in St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart.
