Marjorie M. Horvath

Marjorie M. Horvath, 97, of Elkhart, died early Tuesday morning, November 28, 2017 at Greenleaf Healthcare Center in Elkhart.

Marjorie was born on May 25, 1920 in Elkhart to the late Herman and Mary (Redding) Kessler.  Also preceding her in death were two sons, Michael W. and Stephen H. Horvath and two sisters, Patricia Casey and Mildred Boardman.

As Marjorie Kessler, she married William A. Horvath on June 20, 1943 in Elkhart.  Bill died November 18, 1975.  Surviving are a daughter, Mary L. (Daniel) Gorden and a son, John D. (Marilyn) Horvath, both of Elkhart; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, eighteen step great great grandchildren and one step great great great granddaughter.

A homemaker, Marjorie was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.  She was also an active volunteer at the YM-YWCA Senior Center and for her efforts, was named the Volunteer of the Year in 2001.  Marjorie volunteered with the Hubbard Hill Auxiliary and also for the Elkhart Public Library where she delivered library books to various nursing homes throughout the city.

Visitation for Marjorie will be held on Sunday, December 3 from 2 until 4 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4 at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home.  The Rev. John Hogsett of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
