Donald Lee Scelzo, 77, of Elkhart passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Center for Hospice Care. Don was born on April 26, 1941 to the late Ralph and Mary Scelzo. He was also preceded by a brother Darrell R. Scelzo and a nephew Todd Lee Scelzo. On July 10, 1967 he married Lene Todd. She survives with a sister Candice Robinson, a niece Ronda Wenger, nephews Vincente and Victor Robinson and a precious pug he named Clayton.
Don was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School (Peru, IN). He chose to work in the Band Instrument Industry and retired from United Musical Instruments in 2006. He then worked as a Security and Loss Prevention Officer from 2006 until 2013.
Don’s entire schedule revolved around Notre Dame sports but his true passion was golf. Don was most proud of his three holes in one. He aced Black Squirrel Golf Club, Four Lakes Country Club and Eberhart Petro Municipal Golf Course. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church and Loyal Order of Moose #599 Elkhart.
Visitation will be at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Father Patrick Hake officiating. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
