Emma Henderson, 86, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born on May 7, 1932 in Shaw, Mississippi to Susie and Ed Thompson. She moved to Elkhart in October 1967.
She was joined in holy matrimony to Clarence Henderson in 1947.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Peggy Henderson of Chester, VA., Willie Henderson of Elkhart, Dorothy Green of Osceola, Clarence Henderson Jr. of Indianapolis, James Henderson of Elkhart, Ray (Paula) Henderson of Atlanta, GA., Paula Henderson of Elkhart, Walter Henderson of Cassopolis, MI., Mrs. Barbara (Mike) Belledin, Steven Henderson, David Henderson, Wallace Henderson all of Elkhart, and Christal Henderson of Chicago, IL.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters; Barbara Jean, and Hazel Redmond; and three siblings, Peter Thompson, Eddie Thompson, and Minnie Carr.
Emma worked for Elkhart Community Schools as a school bus driver for 22 years.
She was also a founding member of the Elkhart Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo.
Emma enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, and playing bingo with her friends at the Morris, F.O.P., and Rainbow Bingo halls.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00pm with services starting at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 9, at Hartzler Gutermuth Inman Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Pace officiating.
