Glenn E. Mast

Glenn E. Mast, 97, of Elkhart, died on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 of natural causes at Elkhart Hospice House.

He was born in Elkhart on January 22, 1921, the son of the late Ira C. and Flossie (Steiner) Mast.  He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1939.  In 1946 he graduated from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois after having served in the Transportation Corp. of the United States Army as First Lieutenant from 1943-1946.

In 1944 Glenn married Charlotte R. Goetz of Naperville, Illinois.  She proceeded him in death in 2007.  He is survived by three daughters; Patrice (William) Tozer of Parker, CO, Laura (David) Bailey of Middlebury, IN and Julia Mast of Goshen, IN, six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and one sister Louise (Karl) Noltemeier of Rockford, Illinois.

He had a career in the Construction Industry having served as President of the Ira C. Mast and Son Construction from 1976 until his retirement in 1983.

Glenn was very active in his community with Kiwanis, Y.M.C.A., Bashor Homes and The United Methodist Church of Elkhart, which he attended his entire life.  He enjoyed singing in his church choir for over 40 years and went abroad with the choir several times.  He also enjoyed fishing, card playing and sports, favoring football and baseball.  Traveling and taking family photos were among his hobbies.

Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2018 with a memorial service at 10:00 AM at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community, 28070 CR 24, Elkhart, IN 46517.  Graveside service with military honors to follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman in charge of arrangements.
