Mr. Harold Burson, 93, previously of Elkhart, passed away on December 5, 2018 at Burlington House in Cincinnati, Ohio. Harold was born to the late Hugh and Adeline (Whitfield) Burson on March 2, 1925 in Elkhart. He married Ethel J. Hunt on November 27, 1947 in Elkhart. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2006. Also preceding him in death were two brothers Hugh Burson and Ralph Burson.
Harold served in the US Army in WWII as a Private 1st Class. He received 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He worked at Excel Industries as an Inspector for 35 years and at NBD Bank as a Security Guard for 10 years.
Harold was Cubmaster and a trustee with VFW #9944. He was a former member of the NAACP, Jaycees of Elkhart, Agape Missionary Baptist Church and Gospel chorus at Canaan Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Marsha K. Bass, Murrieta, CA, sons Michael L. (Nedra) Burson, Cincinnati, OH and Kyle (Linda) Burson, Oceanside, CA, six grandchildren-Grant, Tyler, Sedara, Khary, Kala, Afiya and six great-grandchildren-Nyela, Naasir, Elijah, Giovanni, Maasai, and Zora. He also leaves one brother, Herman (Fort Wayne, IN) and two sisters, Barbara Jean Blair (Carson, CA) and Brenda (Edward) Brice (Chandler, AZ).
Funeral service will be held at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
