James F Harder

James F. “Jim” Harder, 77, of Elkhart, died at home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

Jim was born November 21, 1939 in Graytown, Ohio to the late Franklin and Veronica (Brown) Harder.  Also preceding him in death is a daughter, Amy Harder.

On October 10, 1959, Jim married Mary L. Humphrey in Oak Harbor, OH.  She survives along with a daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Fisher of Huntington, IN; a son, Steven (Johanna) Harder of Rancho Cordova, CA; two grandsons, Trent and Bryce Harder; one brother, Paul Harder of TX and four sisters: Betty Koprowski of Oregon, OH, Barbara Johns of FL, Debra (Scott) Wilburn of TN and Paula (Will) Frasure of Millbury, OH.

Jim was employed by the Selmer Corporation as director of M.I.S. before retiring in 1992.  He was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was a Free & Accepted Mason, belonging to the Oak Harbor Lodge 495.  He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in South Bend.  Jim also loved to hunt and fish.

Visitation for Jim will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Saturday, October 14 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.  The Rev. Dan Forehand will officiate and burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
