Jane E. Yeggy, 71, of Elkhart, passed away on Tuesday, July 24th at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
Jane was born March 30, 1947 in Elkhart to the late Lawrence and Mildred Stump.
On November 14, 1975, she married Bobby J. Yeggy in Wabash, IN. He survives along with a son, Bobby J. Yeggy Jr. of Chicago: two grandchildren, Marshall (Kim) Yeggy and Maria Yeggy; one brother, Phil (Linda) Stump of Syracuse, IN and two sisters; her twin, Jean (Steve) Barton of Goshen and Anne (Cliff) Gary of Coldwater, MI.
Jane had been employed previously by Miles, Inc. (Bayer) as a lab analyst. Prior to that she taught school. She was a 1965 graduate of Elkhart High School and she also graduated from Manchester College. Jane was a past chairperson for the Elkhart County Democratic Party. She also received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award from then governor Evan Bayh. Never one to sit idle, Jane did a lot of volunteer work. She volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, served as a Red Coat at Elkhart General Hospital for fifteen years and was a life member of the NAACP. She was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Elkhart. Jane also enjoyed traveling, especially Hawaii.
Visitation for Jane will be held on Monday, July 30th from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 31st at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Jason Freiburger officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
