Jeffery D. Miles, 55, of Elkhart, died Thursday, June 7th, 2018 at 5:40 P.M. at the Center for Hospice Care, Hospice House after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born May 30, 1963 in Hawaii to Lawrence “Larry” and Lynne (Cormican) Miles. He and his wife Cari (Padgett) were married on August 3, 2001 in Las Vegas. She survives with two children, Matthew (Kathy) Nusbaum of Elkhart and Kelly (Matthew) Johnson of Wanatah, IN. His mother Lynne survives in Elkhart along with a sister, Julie (Marc) Rinehart of DeKalb, IL and brother, Michael (Christy) Miles of Elkhart. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jordan Payton Nusbaum, Ace Matthew Johnson, and Gray Jeffrey Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father and one nephew, Miles D. Rinehart.
Jeffery was a graduate of Elkhart Central High School in 1981 and attended Indiana University. He graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in Accounting. Jeff worked in several capacities for Harold Zeigler Ford for 21 years, the most recent as the New Car Sales Manager. He was also a member of the Elkhart Evening Optimist Club, where he served as President from 2000-2001 and was awarded Optimist of the Year in 2002. In his spare time, Jeff loved playing and watching golf, playing euchre and canasta with family, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, June 10th at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Monday at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 11th at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Guests are asked to wear orange, Jeff’s favorite color, in his honor.
