Josephine M Billington

Josephine M. Billington, born January 6, 1928 in Elkhart, died October 27, 2017 at Eastlake Terrace in Elkhart at the age of 89.  She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1946 and received a B.S. in Pharmacy from Purdue University in 1950.  She married Robert T. Billington on October 16, 1948 in Lafayette.

While a homemaker in Grand Haven and Petoskey, MI, she was a member of various groups including the American Association of University Women and American Field Services, and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She returned to Elkhart in 1977, where she retired from NBD Bank in 1992 after 15 years of service.   While retired, she continued to serve on various committees and circles at the First United Methodist Church.  She cherished her family, church, and friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann (Rob) Bassett of Brookfield, WI; granddaughter, Kathryn (Katie) Billington and daughter-in-law, Eleanor (Ellie) Billington, both of Bakersfield, CA; niece, Gwen (Ron) Leer of Kendallville, and nephew, Craig (Deb) Yoder of Sioux Falls, SD.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph I. and Mildred E. Yoder; her brother, Eugene R. Yoder; and her son, Kent A. Billington.

At her request, cremation services have taken place.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
