Lois E. Cook, 94, of Elkhart, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Elkhart Hospice House.
She was born February 16, 1925 in Elkhart to the late Henry and Frieda (Golder) Horne. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Zimmermann, two sons; Steven Cook and Paul Cook Jr.; two brothers; George and Robert Horne and four sisters: Catherine Beehler, Naomi Estep, Marjorie Johnson and Willadene Baker.
As Lois Horne she married Paul L. Cook on October 11, 1942 in Elkhart. He died August 6, 2012. Surviving are a son, Dennis (Joan) Cook of Panama City Beach, FL, one son-in-law, Fred Zimmermann of Elkhart; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Lois was a lifelong resident of Elkhart. She was employed for 45 years at CTS before her retirement in 1986. She was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church (formerly Simpson United Methodist Church), the Loyal Order of The Moose and volunteered for the American Red Cross. She was also a regular volunteer in the general store at Hubbard Hill where she lived.
Private family services for Lois will be held. The Rev. John Hogsett of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
