Mary Jane Borrelli, 95, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.
Mary Jane was born on May 30, 1923 in Elkhart to the late Patsy and Mary (Gianinno) Bilancio. Also preceding her in death are a son, Thomas A. Borrelli; one sister, Gloria Cavanagh and one brother, Arthur Bilancio.
On September 20, 1945, Mary Jane married Anthony J. Borrelli in Elkhart. He died on October 2, 2000. Surviving her are two daughters; Patricia Ann Farran of Anderson, IN, Mary Kay “Kathy” Lowell of Apex, NC: three sons; Joseph (Karen) Borrelli of Greenfield, IN, Robert (Anne) Borrelli of Granger, IN and Richard (Danielle) Borrelli of South Portland, ME; fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one sister, Edith “Cathy” Froelich and one sister-in-law, Mary Checchio of Granger.
Mary Jane worked as a “Sunshine Girl” and later as a Credit Manager at Ziesel’s for 25 years, retiring in 1986. Following that, she worked as a part-time Administrative Assistant at Ash Advertising. She was a graduate of Elkhart High School and lifelong resident of Elkhart. Mary Jane was a member of St. Thomas Church, Rosary & Altar Society, church choir, St. Thomas Soup Kitchen and What-A-Bunch Club. However, she was better known as a “Grandma Extraordinaire”.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Jason Freiburger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery in Elkhart.
