Arthur R.
Lovett
November 26, 2020 – November 26, 2020
Arthur R. Lovett, 91, of Granger, formerly of Elkhart went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2020. Arthur was living at The Hearth at Juday Creek in Granger.
He was born December 24, 1928 in Elkhart to the late Fred H. and Irma (Carlson) Lovett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Victor Lovett.
On June 10, 1950, Art married the former Alice Carlson. Alice died June 9, 2013 after almost 63 years of marriage. Surviving are three daughters: Judy (Timothy) Ferrebee of White Pigeon, MI, Nancy (Bruce) Inman of Edwardsburg, MI and Connie (Gary) Allan of Rio Rancho, NM. Also surviving are five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Art originally went to school for accounting but soon realized he did not want to be sitting at a desk all day long and he became a skilled tool and die maker, retiring from CTS after many years. A devout Christian, Art was an active member of the North Side Baptist Church in Elkhart. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at CTS and a dog lover. As a young man, he helped provide food for the family by hunting and he was an expert marksman. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Korea. As an expert marksman, the Marine Corp used his talents to help train new soldiers.
Arthur was also a skilled woodworker, often building things for his family to enjoy. He was also an avid gardener who produced wonderful tomatoes. Despite all that Arthur did and saw in his life, the one thing that brought him the most joy was sharing the Gospel with others.
Private family graveside services will be held. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
