Barbara J. Chavis, 79, of Elkhart, died Friday, January 29, 2016 at home. Barbara was born on August 15, 1936 in Elkton, KY to Horace and Josephine (Campbell) Dickerson. Barbara is survived by daughter, Stephanie Sharpe, Elkhart; son DeMarco Robinson (Bernadette), Elkhart; grandchildren, DeMarco Robinson II, Jon Robinson, Rashaad Robinson, and Janea Sharpe; great grandchildren Deja Ranae Robinson, Germaya James, Rashaad Robinson II, Mackenzie Robinson, Demari Robinson, Jayla James, Brooklynn Robinson, and Rahmir Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Terry Robinson in 2007. Barbara was a 1954 graduate of Elkhart High School. She was formerly employed with Excel for 25 years and ER Carpenters. Barbara was also a former member of the Black Expo. She was a member of St. James AME. Friends may call from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. James AME with the Reverend Charles Cross officiating.
