Barbara Jane Hilbish, 93, of Goshen, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Greencroft Assisted Living Center, where she had been in residence for 10 years. Barbara was born on September 29, 1922 in Sandusky, Ohio to Carlton William and Grace Undine (Lime) Neu. On November 21, 1948 she married Klete Hilbish in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2000. Barbara is survived by nieces, Nancy SueAnn (Stubbins) Scharrer (Donald), Elkhart, Barbara Alice (Stubbins) Cordell, Houston, TX, Martha Lucille (Stubbins) Price, North Richland Heights, TX and many great-nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Alice Neu Stubbins. Barbara had been an Elkhart County resident since 1930. In 1940 she graduated from Concord High School and later attended Goshen College. Barbara was employed for 34 years with Adams and Westlake in the Cost Department until her retirement in 1977. Barbara was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star- Starlight Chapter 181, and a former member of Sigma Phi Gamma, and the Married Woman's Club (YWCA). Friends may call for an hour prior to the 11 a.m. service, Friday, January 15, 2015 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Graveside services will be private. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
