Betty L. Ferro, 88, of Elkhart, died at home on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 surrounded by family.
Betty was born March 24, 1934 in Scarbro, WV to the late Cana and Ellen (Smith) Coleman. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Coleman and three sisters: Phyllis Alton, Doris Erwin and Juanita Coleman.
On August 11, 1956, Betty married Michael L. Ferro in El Paso, TX. Mike died on May 14, 2010. Surviving are a daughter, Teresa Ferro of Elkhart: three sons; Tony (Susan) Ferro, Greg (Jodi) Ferro and Chris (Kate) Ferro, all of Elkhart; eleven grandchildren: Dawn Ferro, Michael (Stephanie) Ferro, Gregory (Tammy) Ferro, Vincent (Jon R.) Ferro, Nick (Samantha) Ferro, Allison (Rebekah) Ferro, Stephanie (Jeff) Beasley, Amber (Rachell) Scharnow, Maggie Garcia, David (Norma) Garcia and Shane Garcia; 23 great grandchildren: Brianna Ferro, Jack Ferro, Will Ferro, Emma Ferro, Ellie Ferro, Abby Ferro, Karyssa Ferro, Natalia Ferro, Dominic Ferro, Brooklyn (Cameron) Sommers, Chance Livings, Kenidi Garcia, Haley (Christian) Ramirez, David Garcia III, Alex Garcia, Emma Garcia, Mia Garcia, Bella Garcia, Austin Haas, Ryan Menzie, Riley Menzie, Megan Menzie and Leah Garcia; five great great grandchildren: Lucas Ramirez, Liam Ramirez, Noah Livings, Bryson Livings and Paisley Sommers and one brother, Omer Coleman of Maysville, KY.
Betty was employed by the Elkhart Community School system in food service and worked there from the 1970's until her retirement in 2000. She was an avid reader and a seamstress. However, her real love was being in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family.
Visitation for Betty will be held on Monday, December 5 from 1:00 until the hour of the service at 3:00 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.
