Obituary

Beverly J. Sailor, 91, of Goshen died at her Greencroft residence at 10:40 p.m. March 25, 2016. She is survived by her 2 children, a son Dennis (Laura) Sailor of Ellijay, GA, and a daughter Junelle (Daniel) Miller of Elkhart; 4 grandsons; Court (Julie) Sailor of Spencerville, IN; Trent (Laura) Sailor of Carmel, IN; Justin (Chantelle) Hurtekant, Osceola; and Corey Hurtekant, Elkhart; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil R. Sailor, in February 2008; and her parents, Lyle and Elsie (Strawser) Syson. She was their only child. Beverly was married June 9, 1942 to Virgi after their graduation from Elkhart High School in 1941. In the early years, she worked at several small firms in bookkeeping. She traveled with her husband internationally for a number of years, and lived in Dundee, Scotland; Mallorca Spain; Guadalajara, Mexico; and Santiago, Chile. She worked alongside her husband vegetable gardening on a large scale. Many summers they enjoyed trips around Michigan's harbors and fruit orchards. She enjoyed knitting hats for family members and orphanages. The Lord blessed her with a sharp mind up through her final earthly hours. Beverly's church affiliation was with Beulah Missionary church, and founding member of Bethany Missionary Church (1958), Elkhart. She later attended Christian Center Church in South Bend, and Calvary Assembly of God, Elkhart. She and her husband also participated in several church building programs in Mexico. Memorials may be made to either Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN), PO Box 7300, Charlotte, NC 28241; or IU Health Goshen Hospice, 1721 South Main Street, Goshen, IN 46526. The family is planning a private memorial gathering.
