Blease "Whitey"
White Sr.
June 3, 1937 – April 16, 2024
Blease White Sr., AKA "Whitey", 86, of Granger, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Blease was born June 3, 1937, in Rimini, SC to the late Marie White Pinkney. He was also preceded in death by two daughters: Teresa White and Jean Kelly, one son, Thomas White and three grandchildren.
On May 23, 1967, Whitey married Bettie L. Holliday in Elyria, OH. Bettie survives along with a daughter, Lavella Montgomery of Macon, GA; five sons: Blease White Jr. of Michigan City, IN, Clease White and Christen White, both of Elkhart, Jason White of Cincinnati and Coleman White of Cleveland; nineteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Whitey worked for General Motors for thirty years prior to his retirement. During his time, he worked in many different capacities before retiring as an inspector. Blease also received his welding certification. He was a member of the Unique Outreach Ministry Church of God in Christ. In his free time, Whitey enjoyed hunting, watching Westerns and listening to blues music. He also loved being outside and working on his yard, which he took great pride in. He never missed his weekly haircut, which he called his "shave". Whitey enjoyed long drives on the back roads of the country, no doubt to scout for potential places to hunt. Wherever he went, he could be counted on to be on time or early. Whitey never liked to be late to anything. Even though Whitey had many hobbies, he enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren more than anything else.
Funeral services for Blease will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Canaan Baptist Church 933 Fieldhouse Ave. Elkhart where visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Elder Don Williams will officiate, and burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
