Catherine C. Summers met her Divine Savior on September 2, 2026. She was born on March 18, 1931, at Elkhart General Hospital to Kessler and Cecilia (Power) Shamory.

She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1948 and worked as a secretary/bookkeeper during her years of employment, retiring in 1996. She met the love of her life, Robert Summers, at a Church gathering and they married on May 23, 1959, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church where they also celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary in 2019.

They were blessed with three sons, Joseph (Nancy) Summers, Thomas (Karen) Summers, and Michael (Julie) Summers, four grandsons, Ryan, David, Matthew, and Connor Summers, and four nieces, Cathy Feast, Elaine Martin, Margo O’Malley and Jeannette Wood.

Music was a great gift in her life. She was a charter member of the Elkhart Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, the ELCO Chorus, and the choir at St Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her son Michael in 2016, her husband Robert in 2019, and her sister Mary Ellen Shamory in 2020.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10 at Hartzler Gutermuth Inman Funeral Home

From 4-6 PM, with the Rosary prayed at 5:30.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday September 11 at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Burial to follow at St Vincent Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

She will be remembered for her words of comfort, “always remember, we make mistakes, God never makes a mistake” Amen.
