Obituary

Charlene F. Sekora, 95, of Elkhart, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Greenleaf Living Center. Charlene was born on August 8, 1921 in Elkhart to Lloyd E. and Ethel D. (Kantz) Van Pelt. On May 24, 1941, she married Lenard R. Sekora, in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on October 6, 1990.

Charlene is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Matt) Blevins, Gray, KY; sons, Michael Sekora (Judy), Russellville, AL, Ronald Sekora (Cindy), Elkhart, and Donald Sekora (Rita); 6 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren, and a sister, Lois Torok.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Gertrude Laymon, Magdalene Sprague, Margaret Strycker, and Dorothy Swartzell; brothers, Louis Van Pelt, and Charles Van Pelt, her twin.

Charlene was employed with C.G. Conn during World War II as a Rosie the Riveter, making plane parts for B-17 Bombers.  She enjoyed gardening and being with her family on the farm. Charlene had a vegetable stand at the family farm north of Heaton Lake. She also enjoyed playing softball. Charlene was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Friends may call from 4 pm until 8 pm, Monday, April 10, 2017 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
