Darlene M. Frey, 88, of Elkhart, died on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Eastlake Terrace in Elkhart.

She was born on March 11, 1933 in Chicago, IL to the late William and Louise (Goldstein) Kurfirst.  Also preceding her in death was a brother William Kurfirst Jr.

On August 15, 1953 Darlene married Richard H. Frey in Berwyn, IL.  Richard died August 28, 2019.  Surviving are two daughters: Debra (Mark) Blume and Louise Stemm both of Elkhart and a son, Rick (Michelle) Frey of Bristol; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and one sister, Jean Folz of Riverside, IL.

Darlene was a homemaker and also operated her own in-home daycare center for thirty years.  She was a member of St. Mary's of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Bristol and the Moose Lodge #599 in Elkhart.  She also loved animals but above all else, her family was most important to Darlene.

Visitation for Darlene will be held Tuesday, August 24th from 4 pm until 7 pm at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at 11 am on Wednesday, August 25th, also at the funeral home.  The Rev. Robert Van Kempen will officiate and entombment will be in Faith Mausoleum at Rice Cemetery.
