Darlene R. Sawyer, 81, of Elkhart, died on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Valley View Health Care Center in Elkhart.

Darlene was born May 2, 1942, in South Bend, IN to Edna (McEndarfer) Smith.

She married Larry D. Sawyer, and he died November 16, 2020.  Surviving are three sons; Dan Sawyer, Larry Sawyer and Brent Sawyer and four grandchildren.

Darlene was employed in patient services for many years at Elkhart General Hospital.  She was also a graduate of John Adams High School in South Bend and a member of the Nappanee Missionary Church.

Graveside services for Darlene will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Olive Cemetery.  Rev. Jason Rohde of Nappanee Missionary Church will officiate services. There will be no visitation.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
