David B. Hayes, 67, of Elkhart, passed away Monday morning, February 26, 2018 at his home with his loving wife by his side.

Dave was born October 22, 1950 in Goshen, IN to the late Ernest L. and Doris I. (Jessen) Hayes.

On February 14, 2004 in Elkhart, David married the former Rhonda S. Patterson.  She survives along with five daughters: Kelley (Brian) Grafton of Crown Point, IN; Megan (Ky-Anh) Nguyen of Australia; Kyla (Nate) Lengerich of Berne, IN; Alyssa Neuenschwander and Amber Neuenschwander (fiancé Ryan Gortney), both of Indianapolis.  Also surviving are grandchildren; Helena, William, Charlotte, Lachlan, Noelle, Oliver, Hadley and Adalynn.

Dave retired after 30 years with Elkhart Products.  During that time, he served in many capacities but retired as sales manager.  He attended Ball State University before graduating from Indiana State University.  Dave was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving overseas at the end of the Vietnam War.  He was a Free and Accepted Mason, belonging to the Kane Masonic Lodge #183 in Elkhart as well as a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner.  David also enjoyed golfing, traveling with his wife and was a huge Notre Dame fan.

Visitation for David will be on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home.  His brothers of the Kane Masonic Lodge #183 will conduct a Masonic Service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following services.  Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart where military honors will be rendere
