Douglas B. Cook, 59, of Elkhart died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 5,2022 at Elkhart General Hospital

Doug was born on September 11, 1962 in Elkhart to the late Gilford and Judith (Pfister) Cook.  His mother, Judy died August 27, 2021 and his father, Gilford passed on January 13, 2022.

He is survived by his two brothers, Michael (Sheila Smith) Cook of Niles and Christopher (Jennifer) Cook of North Carolina.

Doug attended college at the University of West Virginia, I.U.S.B. and Davenport College.  He was employed as a department manager for Walmart.  He previously had worked at Office Max, Home Depot and for a while in the travel and tourism industry.  Doug was also active in Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 5-7pm at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart. A memorial service for Doug will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church at 11am with an hour of visitation prior to the service.  Sister Nora Frost will officiate and burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.
