(Barnett) Hill

Eleanor M. Hill, 92, of Elkhart, died on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the home of her daughter.
She was born January 11, 1928, in Huntingdon, TN, to the late Gulf and Flossie (DuPree) Barnett. Also preceding her in death were six brothers: James, Willie C., Warren G., John, Bobby and J.L. Barnett.
Eleanor married William T. Salls in Corinith, MS. Three sons were born to this union, Cleophus Salls (deceased), Thomas R. (Ira Jean) Salls, of Louisville, KY and Lewis E. Salls, of Elkhart.
Eleanor then married Curtis T. Hill Sr. in Niles, MI. He died January 28, 2001. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Sonya L. (Bruce) Hill-Outlaw of Elkhart; and a son, Curtis T. (Teresa) Hill, Jr., of Elkhart; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving is one sister, Margaret Branscomb of Laveen, AZ.
Eleanor was a licensed cosmetologist who also worked many years for Taylor Products. She was a member of AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church, the AMICUS Christian Guild, the YWCA Board and was a life member of the NAACP.
Visitation for Eleanor will be Tuesday, February 18th from 6-8 PM at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be held on Wednesday February 19th at 12:00 p.m. at AGAPE Missionary Baptist Church 248 W. Wolf Ave. Elkhart, where visitation will begin at 11 am. The Rev. Dr. Dannell Brown will officiate and entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Rice Cemetery. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
