Evelyn Howe, 82, of Elkhart, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at home

Evelyn was born on October 8, 1933 in Auburn, IL to the late John A. and Florence M. (Bearden) McCulley. On August 25, 1951 she married James Howe. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1993. Evelyn was also preceded by a son, Charles William Howe; sisters, Joyce Williams (Robert), and Mary Frances Cutt; brothers, Edward and Elmer McCulley. Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Nancy Louise Mercer (Brian); sons, James Gregory Howe and Douglas Allen Howe; five grandchildren and a sister, Betty Jean Orrick (Terry).

Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper with Alco Tool Supply until retirement at the age of 81. She enjoyed gambling at the Boats and taking trips to Las Vegas. She also liked to crochet and bowl. Evelyn's family was her life and her greatest joy.

Friends may call from 5 pm until 7 pm, Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
