Fern M. Hostetler, 84, of Elkhart, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at home.
Fern was born Jan. 31, 1928 in St. Joseph County, IN to George F. and Edith M. (Haas) Esenwein. On Aug. 15, 1948 she married Jerold D. Hostetler. He passed away on May 7, 2011.
Fern is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Zane) Carter of Worton, MD; a son, Dr. Michael (Cece) Hostetler of Spokane, WA; a sister, Jeanette Esenwein of Wakarusa; one brother, Lewis Esenwein of Brownsburg, IN; two grandchildren, Erin and Nicolas Hostetler of Spokane, WA; nine nieces and eleven nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Lehman; and four brothers, Walter, Fred, Robert and George, Esenwein.
Fern was a 1946 graduate of Wakarusa High School. She was a homemaker and administered the WABA health insurance plan. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Elkhart. Fern was formerly a member of Four Arts Club, Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary and P.E.O Chapter B.C.
Friends may call Friday Sept. 7, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hartzler Gutermuth Inman Funeral Home.
Services will be Saturday Sept. 8, 2012 at11a.m. with Pastor Karen Bray officiating at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Olive (West) Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church.
