Frances L. (Strom) Stock, 86, of Elkhart, passed away on July 14, 2014 at home. Frances was born on October 12, 1927 in Elkhart to G. Lucille (Godshalk) and Harold F. Strom. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1945 and attended Northwestern University, where she was affiliated with Tri-Delta Sorority. Frances started dancing lessons at five years old and was known as "the little girl who danced". She continued her lessons and studies in Chicago and New York City, including tap, ballet, character, and modern, and taught dance for a period of time in South Bend, Indiana. After her marriage to Gordon D. Stock on August 5, 1947 and the birth of her children, she decided to be a stay-at-home Mom and raise her family. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church and later Trinity United Methodist Church. She was an over 50 year member of OES Starlight Chapter and Elcona Country Club and former Delta Theta Tau Philanthropic Sorority. She loved being with her family, dancing, books, and reading, traveling, playing cards, and her bridge clubs. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon L. Johnson (Jerry), Stevensville, MI; sons, Gordon J. Stock (Marianne), Elkhart, and Michael H. Stock (Ashley), Naples, FL; grandchildren, Lt. Col. Grant M. Johnson (USMC), Papillion NE, Jennifer Gilbert (Matt), Elkhart, Gordon W. Stock, Elkhart, and Caroline E. Stock, Naples, FL; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Dylan, and Madilynn Gilbert and Pacience Stock, all of Elkhart. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her only brother, H. James Strom, Gordon D. Stock, and an infant daughter, Nancy Diane. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
