George Rambow, 93, longtime Elkhart resident, died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 28, 2017.

George was born in Cherryvale, Kan., on June 21, 1923 to Herbert E and Pearl A (Brooks) Rambow. He married Judith Casey Beck on March 23, 1974.

He is survived by his son, George Rambow II (Nancy) of Elkhart, and daughter Nancy Burbano (Alan) of Ann Arbor, Mich., children with former spouse Betty Jean (Stewart) Rambow. His is also survived by stepsons William D. Beck (Staci) of Elkhart and Andrew C. Beck (Brenda) of Peculiar, MO; stepdaughters Allison K. Lindsey (Brian) of Elkhart, and Kelly S. DeCoux (James) of McKinney, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth E. Russo and Iva Jean Marzano, his brothers Wilbur Rambow and Paul Rambow, and his beloved wife Judy.

He was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

George was active in both the swim program at the YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He received the Silver Beaver Award for Scouting in 1968.

He retired from Bendix Aeronautical Division in 1969 after more than 28 years, worked in Purchasing in the RV Industry for 16 years, and retired from the Automotive Accessories Industry in 1992

Family and friends may gather on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, one hour prior to the 2:30 p.m. Service of Remembrance at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, George will be cremated.
