Gerald Dean Canen, 85, formerly of Elkhart died on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Bickford Senior Living of Crown Point.

Gerald was born June 4, 1935 in Elkhart to the late Orville and Bessie (Blocher) Canen making him the youngest of fourteen children.

On June 30, 1963 he married Sandra Kay Miller.  The celebrated 43 years of marriage before she passed away on September 16, 2006.

Gerald was a faithful and dedicated employee at Elkhart Tool and Die for 47 years where he earned the nickname "Gabby".  He also was an avid gardener and loved watching and attending NASCAR races.

Surviving Gerald is his daughter, Michelle (Nicholas) Herman of North Aurora, IL and his two sisters, Joyce Parks and Nyla Franklin.

Private graveside services will be held at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
