Glenda Faye Smith, 72, of Elkhart, was born on November 21, 1951, in Elkhart, IN to Eugene Jackson and Barbara Jean Halliburton.
Glenda transitioned on December 8, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital after battling a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family.
In good health, she was employed by McDonalds and was very active in her church, Deliverance Temple Church of God in Christ, for over thirty years.
She married Kenneth E. "Bill" Smith on June 29, 1984. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2015. Glenda is survived by her father and stepmother, Eugene K. (Margie) Jackson of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters: Regina (Leslie) Marks of Indianapolis and Myra Jackson of Murfreesboro, TN; one brother, Kurt Jackson of Murfreesboro; two daughters: Carmella S. Fossett and Rhonda Y. (Curtis) Williams-Snell; two sons: Charles A. Williams and Allan E. Williams, all of Elkhart; eight nieces and nephews; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Jean Halliburton Smith Dee; two other husbands, Joseph W. Fossett and Charles E. Williams: one son, Joseph W. Fossett, Jr., two great grandchildren and other relatives.
Visitation for Glenda will be held on Saturday, December 16th from 10 am until the hour of the service at 11 am, all at Agape Missionary Baptist Church 248 W. Wolf Ave. in Elkhart. The Rev. Johnathon Halliburton will officiate, and Superintendent George Bostic Sr. will deliver the eulogy. Burial will take place on Monday, December 18th at 10 am at Prairie Street Cemetery where Glenda will be laid to rest next to Kenneth. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
