Gloria L. Rohm, 82, of Elkhart, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Center for Hospice, Raclin House in Mishawaka.
She was born February 20, 1944, in Elkhart to the late Harold G. and Virginia (Isenhart) Mayer. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marcia Shelton.
On July 8, 1967, Gloria married Larry E. Rohm in Elkhart. Larry died on March 19, 2005. She is survived by a son, James G. Rohm of Elkhart, two sisters: Christina L. McBride of Elkhart, and Diana Stamper of Littleton, CO; two brothers, Iverson Grove Jr. and Jon Grove, both of Elkhart. She is also survived by her good friend, Julie Mora of Bristol, two nieces, a nephew and several cousins.
Gloria graduated from Elkhart High School and attended Ivy Tech in Elkhart. She began her career as a secretary at Selmer’s until 1967. She then worked as an admitting clerk at Elkhart General Hospital until 1975. In 1980, she became an administrative assistant at Miles, now Bayer Corporation, until her retirement in 2010. Gloria was a member of the Honor Society at Ivy Tech College and also a member of the Professional Secretaries International. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and was an organist and pianist. She taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkhart for 10 years and was the church secretary for Southside Baptist Church for 7 years. In high school, she was the fastest typist in the school at 165 words per minute. Gloria was also a member of the Heritage Baptist Church of Goshen.
Visitation for Gloria will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 12:30 until the hour of the service at 1:30 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Pastor Dan Mullen will officiate and Gloria will be laid to rest next to her husband, Larry, at Prairie Street Cemetery.
