Helen Schooley, 87, of Elkhart, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at Elkhart Hospice House.

Helen was born on June 9, 1929 in Warsaw to Stuart A. and Ethel (Snyder) Thompson. On June 26, 1948, she married Leo G. Schooley in Warsaw. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2007. Helen is survived by a daughter, Elaine Yoder (Robert), Elkhart; son, Lanny Schooley, Elkhart; grandchildren Jennifer and Dan Schooley, San Antonio, TX, and Joshua Schooley, Elkhart, and a brother, Earl Thompson (Ruby), Clapool, IN. Helen was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Miller, Marcella Cofer, and Mabel Deitrick, and brothers, Roy, Norman, Raymond, Harley, Eddie, and Ernest Thompson.

Helen was a graduate of Warsaw High School. She was a former member of St. John's U.C.C. Helen enjoyed collecting China and glass. She was a devoted homemaker, and enjoyed making her house nice.

Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Center for Hospice Care.
