Henry Griffin Jr., 72, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on Thursday, April 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Henry was born on October 30, 1950, in Memphis, TN to the late Henry and Earline (Williams) Griffin, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Griffin.

On December 10, 1969, Henry married Louise Jackson in Elkhart.  Louise passed away on November 16, 2008.  Surviving is a son, Schuyler J. Griffin of Indiana; two granddaughters; four sisters: Eula Griffin, Louise (James) Millsaps, Doris Griffin Hadley and Denise (Woodrow) Moore, all of Elkhart.  Also surviving is long-time high school friend Larry Coleman, a special friend, Rosetta Brown of Granger and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Henry had been employed by Labour Pump for several years and then he was employed by the Elkhart Community Schools as the head custodian at Pierre Moran Middle School.  He was a member of the Church Without Walls where he taught Sunday School and was the musical engineer.  Henry enjoyed all sports, especially basketball and fishing.

A visitation for Henry will be held at 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at noon on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Church Without Walls 731 Wagner Ave. Elkhart, IN 46516.  Rev. Johnathon and Rev. Cora Brown will officiate.  Henry will be laid to rest next to Louise in Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
