Henry Koonce, 93, of Goshen, formerly of Martinsburg, WV, died on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Heritage Point in Mishawaka.

Henry was born May 17, 1924 in New Bern, NC to the late Richard and Harriett (Jones) Koonce.  Also preceding him in death was one sister, Mildred Herscuth and four brothers; David, Mitchell, Lonnie and James Koonce.

On November 15, 1980, he married Lorraine Orme in Maryland.  She survives along with his daughter, Hilda (Eric) Johnson of Goshen, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and one brother, Bill Parker of North Carolina.

A veteran of the United States Army, Henry served his country proudly during WWII.  While living in Elkhart, he was employed at Adams-Westlake from 1968 until 1971.  He then moved to Maryland where he owned and operated a service station.  He also owned a service station in West Virginia.

There will be no visitation or services.  Cremation will take place and burial will be at a later date in Beallsville, MD in Monachocy Cemetery.  Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
