JACK D. DOERING
October 29, 1933 - May 27, 2016
ELKHART - Jack D. Doering, 82, formerly of Elkhart, passed away Friday, May 27th at Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
Jack was born on October 29, 1933 in Bremen, Indiana to Remis and Mabel (Felton) Doering. He grew up in Wakarusa until his family moved to Elkhart in 1947. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1952 and was a proud Blue Blazer. In November, 1952 he married his high-school sweetheart and beloved wife, Sally A. (Nelson).
Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sally; sons Randy Doering (Rhonda) of Louisville, KY, Michael Doering (Lynda) of Elkhart; daughters Leslee McCrory (Gordon) of Granger and Darcy Bock of Lutz, Florida; eight grandchildren, Matt Doering (Sierra), Cameron Doering, Cassandra Rost (Nick), Sean Doering, Karrie Lee Hunter (Clayton), Brandon Lee, Colin Bock (Czarina), Eric Bock and four great grandchildren.
Jack is also survived by one sister, Joyce Kruse of Arizona and was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Youngblood and a brother, Wayne Doering.
Jack worked for CTS Corporation in Elkhart for 37 years. He was an avid fast-pitch softball player, loved watching sports especially Notre Dame Football and the Chicago White Sox. He loved to fish and stayed active by cutting wood and making bird houses. Jack had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and stories.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4th memorial service at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 226 West Lexington Avenue, Elkhart. Father Daniel Repp will officiate. Cremains will be entombed in the columbarium at St. John's Episcopal Church. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care or St. John's Episcopal church in memory of Jack.
