Jack Boyd Smith, Sr., 85, of Bristol, died at 8:39 a.m. Sun., April 1, 2012 at Elkhart General Hospital.
Jack was born Nov. 22, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to Merton B. and Evaline (Roberts) Smith.
Jack was a veteran of the Navy. He was a builder and real estate developer. Jack was founder and President of Gaska Tape for many years. He was a member of the Shrine, a Knight Templer 32nd degree and past director of the American Morgan Horse Association.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Judy Dawn (John) Bond of Edwardsburg, MI; a son, Jack Boyd (Laura) Smith, Jr. of Elkhart; an adopted daughter, Barbara (Chuck) Koski of Warren, Ohio; five grandchildren, James, Jordan Bond, Jack Boyd Smith III, Angelica Smith, and Charles Koski; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Jack Koski.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Romaine; and a brother, Merton Smith, Jr.
There will be no visitation or service. Burial will take place in Mentor, Ohio at a later date. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society or the American Morgan Horse Association.
