James  D. "Jim" Flora, Sr. 86, passed away at his home in Elkhart on Friday April 20, 2018.

Jim was born in Elkhart, Indiana on June 28, 1931 to Lawrence & Ollie (Bankes) Flora.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lawrence E. Flora and Gerald W. Flora.

On October 2, 1992 he married Willa Beth Anderson, in Berne, Indiana.  She survives along with sons, James D. Flora, Jr. of Marshall, MI, William (Esther) Flora of Goshen; Step-sons, Thomas (Jessica) Moody of Schaumburg, IL, Christopher Moody of Virginia Beach, VA; daughters, Lynn (Michael) Darling of Marshall, MI, Beth (Scott) Shaum of Colorado Springs, CO, Step-daughters, Jennifer (Gary) Wilcox of Lakeport, CA, and Dr. Stephanie (Thomas) Antonio of Virginia Beach, VA.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Jim was a member of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church.  As a young boy, Jim placed his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for forgiveness of his sins and for grace to live a life pleasing to Him, and therefore, Jim is now in the presence of His Lord and for eternity, more alive than ever before.

Jim was the owner of Park Homes and had also worked in sales at Continental Can.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, being outdoors, and spending time with his dogs and horses.

Visitation for Jim will be held Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at McCoy Memorial Baptist Church.  The Rev. Raymond Laborde will officiate and burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
