Jeanne E. Finney, 91, of Elkhart, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen. Jeanne was born in Elkhart on September 19, 1924 to the late Earl and Blanche (Hammon) Anderson. She is survived by one daughter, Jana (Jerry) Workman of Goshen, two grandchildren; Jennifer Hannah (Rod Evans, fiancée) of Yorktown, IN and Jason (Diane) Workman of Elkhart; five wonderful great grandchildren; Breana and Kayla of Yorktown, Morgan, Mackenzie and Carson of Elkhart and one more on the way. Also surviving are a brother, Lester Cooper of Elkhart, a sister, Sue Dominguez of Deming, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her longtime step-father, Henry Clevenz, two daughters, Judy Leigh Holaway and Deann Sue McClure and a brother, Jack H. W. Cooper, lost in the South Pacific during WWII and a brother Robert (Joan) Anderson. Jeanne loved to travel, read, work crossword puzzles, bake pies for her family and give black jelly beans to her great grandchildren. She also loved watching the Chicago Cubs and golf on television. Her favorite trip was in 1996 with her three adult daughters on a three week trip to England, France and Italy. She said it was "magical". Jeanne graduated from Elkhart High School in January of 1942 and retired from Bayer, Mishawaka in 1995 after 18 years of employment, most of which was in the Finance Department. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. Visitation for Jeanne will be held on Saturday, August 13th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. The Reverend Dan Forehand of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate and burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heart-felt 'Thank You' to the staff and nurses at Courtyard for the love and compassion and the care given to Jeanne during her stay with them.
