Jeffrey Scott Plummer, 27, of Elkhart, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at I. U. Health, University Hospital in Indianapolis.
Scott was born June 17, 1988 in Elkhart to Jeffrey Allen and Lari Paige (Steele) Plummer.
Scott is survived by his parents, Paige Simon and Jeff Plummer of Elkhart; a sister, Shauna Steele of Anderson, IN; two brothers, Matthew Steele of White Pigeon, MI, Joseph Plummer of Elkhart and his grandmother, Jane Plummer of Goshen, IN and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Plummer, Lawrence Steele and his grandmother, Charlene F. Royer.
A 2007 graduate of Elkhart Memorial High School, Scott valued his friendships and meeting new people. He loved sports and being outdoors, especially snowboarding, wakeboarding, hunting and fishing.
Scott was employed as a MSP for Rock-Tenn in Mishawaka, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Scott was a warrior and two-time leukemia survivor, fighting courageously without complaint until the end. We were blessed to learn many heartfelt lessons of love from Scott over the course of his short 27 years, among them: that true friendship does not recognize color or social status, that a true heart and soul can make a difference to others, and that laughter and love are the only truths in life.
Visitation for Scott will be on Wednesday, February 3rd from 3 to 7 at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Jason Freiburger of St. Thomas officiating. Cremation will follow.
If you would like to make a memorial contribution in memory of Scott, donations may be sent to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Indiana Chapter 9075 N. Meridian St., Suite 150 Indianapolis, IN 46260.
