John Anthony Ferro, 75, died on Sunday, April 14, 2013, in his home. He was born August 8, 1937 in Elkhart, Indiana to Michael and Grace (Welker) Ferro. On June 30, 1974, he married Elnora Jane Shelton in Elkhart. Jane passed away on October 13, 2008. John is survived by five children- two daughters, Terri Jo (Ferro) Williams, Christina Jo Haley of Elkhart and three sons, John Ferro, Jr. of Elkhart, James L. (Linda) Ferro of North Carolina and William (Annette) Ferro of Kentucky; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Betty (Ed) Huot and Mildred Ferro both of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Betty Lou (Michael) Ferro of Elkhart; two brothers, David (Teri) Ferro of Ft. Wayne, Gerald (Ruby) Ferro of LaGrange. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael L. Ferro Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home, 403 W. Franklin Street, Elkhart. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Funeral Home. Mr. Ferro was an avid camper, fisherman and bowler. He was a master auto mechanic. From 1981 until 1986, he was the 1st 4th District Manager of IVFA. For over 20 years he was associated with the Baugo Fire Department, serving as the Fire Chief from 1989-1992, and served 13 years full-time as HVAC Tech and mechanic for the Baugo Community School, retiring in 2011.
