John Richard Fisher, 90, of Elkhart, died Monday, May 29, 2023, at Elkhart Meadows. He was born on January 8, 1933, in Elkhart, Indiana to the late James A. and Alice Rose (Volstedt) Fisher. John was married to Phyllis Marie Smith on January 16, 1953 she preceded him in death on March 2, 2006.

John was preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Randy Jay Fisher, John Richard Fisher and Anthony Fisher. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, James A. Fisher and Robert Fisher. As well as his late companion Charlotte Morrill.

John is survived by his children: Judith Kay (Tim) Howard of Granger, Indiana, Paul Michael (Betty) Fisher of Bloomington, Indiana, Cheryl Ann Fisher of Niles, Michigan and daughter-in-law Mary Fisher of Granger, Indiana.

John is also survived by his grandchildren: Kristin Howard, Matthew (Katrina) Howard, Carolyn Fisher, Megan (Tom) Karnes, Amanda (Vinny) Valente and great grandchildren: Kyler, Ainsley, Hadley, Cecilia and Cohen.

John was a devoted Roman Catholic who cared deeply about his faith. In his free time John loved to fish, ballroom dance and take walks with his beloved dog, Suzy.

A service for John will be held at a later date.
