John W. Judd, 86, of Elkhart, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Elkhart Hospice House.
John was born on April 27, 1930 in Akron, IN to Charles W. and M. Marie (Arter) Judd. On June 20, 1952, he married Marlene J. Mullett in Elkhart. She survives.
John is also survived by daughters Mrs. Derrel (Betty) Neufeld, Council Bluffs, IA, Mrs. Kevin (Cynthia) Gardner, Plymouth, and Mrs. Greg (Pamela) Timmons, Syracuse, IN; son, Kevin C. Judd, Tampa, FL; 10 Grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and M. Marie Judd.
John was a graduate of Culver Military Academy- Black Horse Troop. He attended and graduated from Elkhart Public School in 1948. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he served at Great Lakes Naval Hospital. He attended Purdue University, and graduated in June of 1954 from Ferris State University in Big Rapid, MI with a degree in Pharmacy. John went on to become the Vice-President of Judd Drugs, founded by his father, Charles Judd. John retired in October of 1995 after 55 years of dedicated service.
John was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity while at Purdue, the Elkhart County Mental Health Association, a former member of the Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Exchange Club, Indiana Pharmacy Association, and a member of the American Pharmacists Association. John was also a Red Coat at Elkhart General Hospital. He was also known as the voice of Mr. J on WTRC during the weekend edition.
Friends may call from 5pm until 7 pm, Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 am, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Bethel Missionary Church with Reverend Joel Gentz officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
