Josephine Young, 81, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at East Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Josephine was born on June 6, 1935 in Elkhart to Frank A. Gray and Katherine (Robinson) Gray. 1979 she married Eddie L. Young. The two were married for 50 years, until his passing on March 26, 2015.

She is survived by her beloved children, daughter, Kathy Shera Jackson, Elkhart; son, Kim Edward Young, Elkhart, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Eloise Gray, Elkhart.

Josephine was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Dwayne Young on January 24, 2014, sisters, Gwendolyn Jones, Barbara Jean Wallace, and Jo Anne James, and brother, James Gray

Josephine was very involved with her church, St. James A.M.E. She loved collecting dolls of all kind and decorating. Josephine was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved to volunteer with Elkhart General Hospital. Friends may call from 11 am until the 1 pm service, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at St. James A.M.E. with Reverend Charlie B. Cross, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
