Linda Renee Brooks, 74, of Goshen died at 7:37 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Goshen Hospital.

She was born April 23, 1947 in Goshen to the late Paul V. and Melba Jean (Loucks) Bechtel.  Also preceding her in death are a daughter, Jeryl Leeann Brooks, a brother, Ronnie Lee Bechtel; two stepbrothers and one stepsister.

As Linda Bechtel, she married Robert D. Brooks June 12, 1965 in Elkhart.  He survives along with a son, Steve (Danielle) Brooks of Osceola, IN; three granddaughters: Kara D. (Devin) Wright, Kayla M. Eller and Kelly D. Brooks; three great granddaughters: Ellie, Lilly and Sophie: her siblings: Dennis (Amanda) Bechtel, Sue-Nell Lowe, Janine (Bobbie) Gilley, Jeff (Lydia) Benedict, Andy Benedict and Rose-Ann Benedict, all of Elkhart and one stepsister, Lori Sarns of Big Rapids, MI.

Linda was employed as an LPN, working at Hubbard Hill and most recently for Family Nursing Services.  She was a member of the Northside Church of the Nazarene and was a graduate of the nursing program at IVY Tech.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, camping and coloring.  She was also an avid collector of owls and green glass. As much as she enjoyed collecting, she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.

Visitation for Linda will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 3 to 6 pm at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home where services will be held immediately following visitation at 6 pm.  The Rev. Gary Sheets of Middlebury Community Church of the Nazarene will officiate.  Cremation will follow and inurnment will be at Rice Cemetery at a later date.
